Da Cruz heads to the West Coast
Standout setter Luiza Da Cruz has officially committed to California State University, Bakersfield, continuing her volleyball career at the NCAA Division I level.
Da Cruz, a key playmaker for the Sharks over the past two seasons, accumulated an impressive 1,613 assists, averaging 8.23 assists per set. She also contributed 360 digs (1.84 digs per set), 69 service aces, and 57 kills while maintaining a .376 hitting percentage.
During her freshman season, Da Cruz made an immediate impact, earning FCSAA Freshman of the Year honors while leading the Sharks with 1,134 assists (11.57 assists per set) and 220 digs. She followed up with another strong campaign in her sophomore year, tallying 479 assists and 140 digs.
Luiza will now take her talents to the West Coast where she'll join the Roadrunners who are led by Giovanna Melo. The squad finished with a 12-18 record last year and boast a roster with players from all over such as Hawaii, Italy and Brazil.
