Sharks Roll Past the Saints
The Miami Dade Sharks continued their dominant season, defeating Santa Fe in straight sets, to improve their record to an impressive 17-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play.
Miami Dade's offense was led by Katielle Alonzo, who delivered a strong performance with 11 kills on 21 attempts, hitting at a .381 percentage. Luyeisy Marquez also had a standout game, recording 10 kills while hitting .389. Angelica Rodriguez contributed 9 kills with a .500 hitting percentage, while setter Maria Clara Antunes orchestrated the offense with 26 assists, while contributing 2 service aces. Mia Martinez was a defensive force, leading the team with 16 digs and adding an ace of her own.
The first set saw Miami Dade jump out to a 25-14 win, fueled by a .333 hitting percentage, while limiting Santa Fe to a .080 clip. The Sharks continued their control in the second set, hitting .323 to win 25-19. Santa Fe put up a fight in the third set, narrowing the scoreline, but Miami Dade closed it out 25-23 with crucial plays from Marquez and Alonzo.
Santa Fe, now 10-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play, was led by Kailyn Howard, who notched 10 kills on 31 attempts, hitting .290.
With this win, Miami Dade remains undefeated as they continue their quest for a perfect season.
