Sharks stay undefeated with win over Polk
The Miami Dade Sharks extended their winning streak to 12 games, cruising past Polk State with a dominant 3-0 victory, Saturday afternoon The win keeps Miami Dade undefeated with a 12-0 overall record and 3-0 in conference play.
From the first serve, Miami Dade controlled the game, winning the first set convincingly, 25-7. Led by an impressive .586 hitting percentage in the opening set, the Lady Sharks overwhelmed Polk State's defense with 17 kills and no errors.
In the second set, Polk State showed some signs of life, but Miami Dade's balanced attack was too much to handle. The Lady Sharks won the set 25-15, hitting .400 as a team. Polk State managed to slow down the attack slightly in the third set, but Miami Dade still closed out the match with a 25-19 win to secure the sweep.
Katielle Altagracia Alonzo Vargas led the charge for Miami Dade with 11 kills and a .556 hitting percentage, while Eduarda Dos Santos Leite added 7 kills on 7 swings for a perfect 1.000 efficiency. Setter Maria Clara Antunes orchestrated the attack, dishing out 17 assists and adding 3 service aces.
Defensively, Mia Martinez led the back row with 18 digs, while the front line combined for 3 solo blocks and 8 block assists. Luiza Da Cruz contributed 6 points, including 4 aces, while Juliana Laguado Raigosa added 7 kills and 3 aces, bringing her total to 10.5 points.
