Sharks take care of CSI in straight sets
The Miami Dade College Sharks maintained their perfect record, sweeping the College of Southern Idaho 3-0 in dominant fashion with set scores of 25-11, 25-10, and 25-19. The victory extended Miami Dade's winning streak to 10 games as they moved to 10-0 on the season.
Miami Dade opened the match with a commanding performance, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to Angelica Rodriguez's kill and key blocks from Paulina Agudelo Marín and Rodriguez. CSI briefly fought back to tie the score at 4-4, but Miami Dade quickly regained control, rattling off an 8-1 run, fueled by service aces from Mia Martinez and attacks by Katielle Alonzo. The Sharks would end up closing the set at 25-11 with a service error by CSI.
The Sharks continued their dominance in the second set, quickly racing to a 6-0 lead behind kills from Luana Borsatto and Vargas, along with aces from Maria Clara Antunes. CSI struggled with errors, unable to handle Miami Dade's serving pressure. Antunes led a balanced attack, distributing the ball effectively to her teammates. Miami Dade's blocking game continued to frustrate CSI's hitters, and the Sharks coasted to a 25-10 victory.
The College of Southern Idaho showed some fight in the third set, taking a brief 4-2 lead on back-to-back service aces. However, Miami Dade responded with kills from Rodriguez and Vargas, quickly tying the game at 5-5. The Sharks regained the lead at 8-7 and never looked back. Strong defense from Luyeisy Marquez and timely kills from Borsatto and Vargas kept the pressure on CSI. Despite a late rally by CSI, Miami Dade closed out the set 25-19, securing the match.
The Sharks finish off their weekend undefeated and look to continue the momentum as they face Eastern Florida State College on Wednesday.
