Sharks dominate Apaches in straight sets
Kiko Benoit's squad continued their dominant start to the season with a decisive straight-set victory over Tyler Junior College, improving their record to 3-0.
In the first set, the Sharks set the tone early with a strong offensive performance, registering 12 kills and hitting .308 as a team. Luyeisy Marquez led the way with 8 kills and an impressive .438 hitting percentage throughout the match. Miami Dade's aggressive serving also proved to be a key factor, as they tallied 13 service aces, with Maria Clara Antunes and Mia Martinez each contributing three.
The second set saw Miami Dade continue their efficient play, with 11 kills and a stellar .391 hitting percentage.
Despite a more competitive third set, where the Apaches managed to score 17 points, the Sharks balanced attack proved too much. Miami Dade recorded 14 kills in the final set, with Esthefany Rabit and Paulina Agudelo Marín making significant contributions. Rabit was particularly efficient, with 7 kills on 10 attempts, hitting .600 for the match.
Miami Dade's defense also stood out, as they recorded 41 digs and 6 blocks, effectively shutting down Tyler's offense.
The Sharks will look to keep their perfect record as they face Trinity Valley at 2:00 PM and host Blinn College at 5:00 PM to finish off the Kruse Kickoff Classic.
