Miami Dade College (MDC) Lady Sharks Show Tenacity in Region VIII Championship Match against Florida Southwestern Buccaneers

Miami Dade College's (MDC) Lady Sharks bravely fought in the State Tournament Championship match against the formidable Florida Southwestern Buccaneers. Although MDC was defeated in three sets, the Lady Sharks demonstrated exceptional skill and determination throughout the intense competition.

The match's final score was 14-25, 20-25, 15-25, with the Lady Sharks leaving it all on the court. Despite the loss, the team showcased their capabilities with 29 impressive kills. Additionally, the Lady Sharks' defensive efforts were commendable, as they recorded 40 digs, seven blocks, and two serve aces.

One standout player during the match was Ana Tevdoradze, who showcased her offensive prowess with eight kills. In addition to her kills, Tevdoradze contributed six digs and one block to the team's overall performance.

Vivian Lucumi also left her mark on the court with five kills and an impressive hitting percentage of .333. Lucumi's presence was felt on the defensive end as well, recording three blocks.

Leading the team in assists was Luiza DaCruz with 21. DaCruz also displayed her defensive capabilities with seven digs. Mia Martinez contributed significantly to the team's defensive efforts with 15 digs and one serve ace.

Although the Lady Sharks were unable to secure the Region VIII Championship title, their exceptional performance has earned them a spot in the upcoming NJCAA Atlantic District B Championship. MDC will face off against Monroe Community College in this crucial match to secure a coveted spot in the nationals.
