National Runner-up Miami Dade College Volleyball Team Shows Dominance in Season Opening

West Plains, MO - August 23, 2023 - The Miami Dade College (MDC) volleyball team kicked off their season with a strong showing at the Jefferson College Classic in West Plains, Missouri. The MDC Sharks, last year's national runner-up, showcased their skills and determination in a thrilling matchup against the College of Southern Illinois.

In an intense four-set game, the Sharks emerged victorious with a final score of 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17). The team displayed extraordinary teamwork and exceptional individual performances, highlighting the depth of talent within the roster.

One of the standout players of the game was Ana Tevdoradze. Tevdoradze demonstrated her dominance on the court with a remarkable 21 kills on 39 attacks, resulting in an impressive hitting percentage of .436. Not only did she excel in her offensive contributions, but she also showcased her defensive skills with a notable eight digs.

Another player that made a significant impact throughout the game was Beatrice Carulli. Carulli showcased her versatility and prowess with 11 kills on 23 attacks, attaining an excellent hitting percentage of .348. Additionally, she showed her defensive abilities by contributing six digs, further solidifying her importance to the team.

Esthefany Rabit also played a crucial role in the team's success, showcasing her attacking prowess with ten kills on 18 attacks and a commendable hitting percentage of .333. Her powerful swings and strategic plays contributed significantly to the Sharks' victory.
