Naimir Garcia is Now a Conquistador

Miami, FL- Outside Hitter Naimir Garcia signed her national letter of intent with Florida National University recently. The 5'10 sophomore will finish her collegiate career in Miami and play under the Conquistadors' Head Coach Carlos Huaroto-Luque.

At FNU, Garcia will join former Lady Sharks Silvia Galeano, Thalia Torres, and Adara Anselmo. While at MDC, Garcia helped the Lady Sharks win the 2016 FCSAA State Championship and the 2016 NJCAA National Championship.

Garcia finished her final season at MDC with 157 points, 141 kills, 83 digs, 23 block assists; she also averaged 2.17 kills per set. In addition, the Caracas, Venezuela native was named to the All-Southern Conference Second Team.

As a freshman, Garcia was named to the 2015 Southern Conference All-Academic Team and 2015 All-Southern Conference Second Team.

"Naimir Garcia is one of the most consistent player that I ever had," said MDC's Head Coach Kiko Benoit. It is hard to lose a player like her. I am sure that Florida National is happy to add her to their roster.
