Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega and Director of Athletics Mike Balado have named Ramiro Vengoechea the Head Coach for Miami Dade’s Women’s Soccer inaugural season starting in the Fall of 2024. Vengoechea joins the Sharks with loads of experience and the necessary tools to lead the Sharks to the promised land. Vengoechea brings with him over 15 years of soccer coaching experience, mostly in Miami.

Prior to being appointed the Head Coach at Miami Dade, Vengoechea served as the Head Coach for the FC Surge, a Women’s Premier Soccer League Team from 2016. During his time with the Surge, Vengoechea developed a winning culture, leading his team to two Conference Championships one in 2018 and the other in 2021. The Sharks Head Coach was also named the Conference Coach of the Year in 2021.

Coach Vengoechea was the Varsity Head Coach at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy girls’ team where he led his team to 2 FHSSA State Championships, six final fours in 8 years and was named a seven-time Miami Herald Coach of the Year (2014-2021). Additionally, he spent 14 years at Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club where he was a Technical Director. Along with this, Vengoechea was the Assistant Coach at Florida Memorial University from 2016 to 2018.

“We are thrilled to have Ramiro join our MDC family.  He comes with exceptional qualifications as well as a consistent track record of success.  In building our Women’s Soccer Program it was important to have a coach that fosters unity, is a great tactician, and has a history of winning. Coach Vengoechea has all these qualities and more.  The future is bright with Ramiro taking the reins in our inaugural season.” – Director of Athletics Mike Balado
