On a night meant to celebrate Miami Dade College's lone sophomore, Daytona State College spoiled the occasion with a 2-0 victory. The Sharks were held scoreless in their Sophomore Night matchup, despite showing flashes of offense, especially in the second half.
Daytona State took the lead late in the first half, with Sophia Varga scoring in the 37th minute, assisted by Valeria Vasquez. The Falcons then sealed the game in the 73rd minute, when Alyse Then netted her third goal of the season with an unassisted strike.
Miami Dade's goalkeeper, Scarlett Veloza Albarracin, worked hard to keep the game close, making five saves from Daytona's 15 total shots. The Sharks, however, struggled to break down the Falcons' defense, only managing six shots—two of which were on target. Daytona's goalkeeper, Julianna Trujillo, was sharp, denying the Sharks any chance of a comeback.
Despite the energy from their Sophomore Night celebration, the Sharks couldn't overcome Daytona's solid play leaving them with a 7-3 record with four games left to go.
