Sharks take down #9 ranked Titans

The Miami Dade College Sharks pulled off a thrilling 3-2 victory over the #9 ranked Eastern Florida State College Titans. With the win, the Sharks are now tied in a three way tie for #1 in the conference with a 7-2 overall record and 2-1 in conference play.

The game started with a flurry of action, as Miami Dade's Julia Gurgel opened the scoring at the 15:04 mark of the first half, with an assist from Tessa Abreu. Eastern Florida State responded immediately, with Tiggi Gent leveling the score just seconds later with an unassisted goal, making it 1-1.

In the second half, the Sharks took the lead again at the 52:35 mark, thanks to Camila Martins Viera's goal, which was unassisted. However, the Titans wasted no time answering back. Less than a minute later, Phoebe Wilson, assisted by Gent, equalized the score at 2-2.

The deciding moment came in the 65th minute when Gurgel scored her second goal of the match off a pass from Betzael Contreras, giving the Sharks a 3-2 lead that they held onto for the rest of the match.

Eastern Florida State applied significant pressure, outshooting Miami Dade 11-4, but the Sharks' goalkeeper Scarlett Veloza Albarracin made 3 crucial saves, holding the Titans at bay. The Titans' goalkeeper Jessica Reis faced 3 shots on goal but was unable to make any saves.

The Sharks head up to Melbourne next week for two games against Southwestern Illinois College and Monroe Community College.
