Quimby heads to FGCU
Standout guard Shameir Quimby has committed to Florida Gulf Coast University, continuing her basketball journey at the NCAA Division I level.
Quimby, a dynamic force for the Miami Dade Sharks over the past two seasons, established herself as one of the premier scorers in the NJCAA, finishing her career with 1,252 points and averages of 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 steals per game over 61 appearances. She shot an efficient 47.8% from the field, 33.7% from three-point range, and nearly 70% from the free-throw line.
During her freshman campaign, Quimby made an immediate splash, starting every game and averaging 21.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while connecting on 47.1% of her shots and 37.2% from deep. She followed up with another stellar season as a sophomore, boosting her rebounding and playmaking numbers with 8.1 boards and 4.4 assists per contest, while still scoring 19.3 points per game.
Shameir will now take her talents to Fort Myers, where she'll join a Florida Gulf Coast squad known for its up-tempo style and postseason success. The Eagles, perennial contenders in the ASUN Conference, will look to Quimby's scoring ability, athleticism, and defensive presence as they chase another championship run.
