Sharks Drop Matchup Against the Bucs
The Miami Dade Sharks struggled to find rhythm offensively and fell to Florida Southwestern State College 74-60 on the road.
The Sharks were led by Cleaira Peterson, who delivered a dominant performance with 29 points on 13-of-25 shooting while adding seven rebounds and two steals. Jazmyne Bynum also contributed with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Shameir Quimby added 10 points.
Florida Southwestern took control early, outscoring Miami Dade 23-15 in the first quarter and extending their lead to 14 by halftime. The Bucs' three-point shooting proved to be a key difference-maker, as they hit 11-of-24 from beyond the arc (45.8%), with Samantha Serrano and Sarah Owona each knocking down five and four triples, respectively. Serrano and Owona both finished with 22 points to lead Florida Southwestern.
The Sharks were unable to close the gap in the third quarter, where they were outscored 20-12. A late push in the fourth quarter, where Miami Dade held Florida Southwestern to just 11 points, wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Miami Dade shot 41.3% from the field but struggled from three-point range, making just 2-of-12 attempts (16.7%). The Sharks also faced challenges on the boards, being outrebounded 45-34, including giving up 18 offensive rebounds.
