Sharks lose by 2 at home to Hillsborough

The Miami Dade Sharks women's basketball team dropped a conference matchup against Hillsborough Community College 90-88. Miami Dade drops to 4-17 while the Hawks move one win above .500.

Masiel Reyes got things started for the Hawks in tonight's matchup with a three pointer. Renae Brant answered back with a a three of her own to tie things up in the early going. Both teams would have an outstanding first quarter from the field with the Hawks shooting 68% and the Sharks shooting 50%. Miami Dade would have the advantage from the three point and the free throw line.

The second quarter would be more of the same from both teams as they would each shoot more than 50% from the field once again. 12 of the Shark's 28 points came from Iva Chokaloska who shot 4-6 from 3-point land. Miami Dade would finish the first half leading 54-50.

The Sharks would get off to a 9-2 run in the 3rd quarter thanks to some timely shooting by Quimby and Chokaloska. Miami Dade would keep the distance for the rest of the quarter and carried the momentum into the last 10 minutes.

The fourth quarter would go the Hawks way where they would outscore Miami Dade 23-12. The Sharks would surrender the lead with 1:41 remaining in the quarter but that was all they needed to run away with the victory.

The Sharks will look to bounce back next Wednesday when they take on Palm Beach State College. The game is slated for Wednesday February 7 at 5:30 PM.
