On Sunday, November 17, 2019 against Daytona State College Head Coach Susan Summons and Associate Head Coach Erica Redman notched their 600th career win, with a final score of 85-71. Coach Summons has been coaching the Lady Sharks for 34 years and over 93% of her student-athletes have continued their education at four-year colleges or universities. She is also among the top winnigest NJCAA coaches in the Nation. This Coaching duo has 19 FCSAA State Tournament appearances and is ready to lead the team this season to another spot to compete in the tournament.

“It is tremendous to accomplish such a legacy that will stand in the history of this MDC program but even more rewarding to know that we have helped so

many student athletes reach their own educational and athletic milestones,” states Summons.

 Head Coach Susan Summons took over the reins at Miami Dade College in 1986 and has compiled over 600 wins in her time here at Miami Dade. Prior to Miami Dade College Coach Summons was the head coach at Roxbury Community College from 1983-1986 with a final record of 57-8. As the Tigers head coach she has won three state Championships and had one NJCAA National Tournament appearance.

Coach Summons was named one of the 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America by the Institute Sport. On top of her numerous accomplishments as a Head Coach, Summons has been a professor in the Life Sciences, Health and Wellness Department for 34 years and been named a two-time Endowed teaching Chair at Miami Dade College.

As a former women's professional basketball player for the WBL, in 2018 Summons was honored at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tennessee and was named one of the Trailblazers and Pioneers of the Game.

 Associate Head Coach Erica Redman has helped to guide the Lady Sharks to their many successes. Most recently, the Lady Sharks were crowned back-to-back

Southern Conference champions in 2018 & 2019. In addition to her on court accomplishments, she has received multiple MDC Excellence Awards and was

recently inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
