Sharks Complete Sweep with 8-0 Shutout Over Polk State in Game 2
Miami Dade wrapped up their doubleheader with authority, blanking Polk State College 8-0 in five innings behind dominant pitching from Carina Amarilla and an explosive performance at the plate from Caroline Mito.
The Sharks wasted no time getting on the board, with Gabriela Trinoski lacing an RBI double in the 1st inning. Miami Dade tacked on runs in each of the next four innings, steadily building a lead Polk State could never threaten.
Mito was the star of the game, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, including a 3-run homer in the 5th that put the game out of reach and invoked the mercy rule. Trinoski added two doubles and an RBI, while Ty Marie Cervantes and Gabriela Luz also contributed with run-scoring plays.
On the mound, Amarilla (10-2) tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering just three hits over five innings while striking out four and walking two.
The win pushes Miami Dade to 23-7 overall and 13-7 in conference play, while Polk State drops to 19-20 (6-14).
