The Sharks wasted no time jumping ahead, plating seven runs in the first inning. Caroline Mito led off the scoring by crossing home on a groundout from Dana Piri. Gabriela Luz followed with an RBI single, while Emma Van Arman drew a bases-loaded walk to add another run. The highlight of the inning came when Carmela Smith launched a grand slam to deep center field, giving Miami Dade an early commanding lead.
Hillsborough responded with four runs in the bottom half of the first, cutting the deficit to 7-4. Ashley Daniels, Vanessa Neptune, Belen Gomez, and Avery Dorsey each drove in runs to momentarily shift momentum. Miami Dade's offense was led by Luz, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Smith, who finished with four RBIs on her grand slam. The Sharks totaled 10 hits and displayed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks.
