Dana Piri's Walk-Off Blast Lifts Miami Dade Over Santa Fe in Game 2
A dramatic finish capped off Game 2 of Miami Dade College's doubleheader against Santa Fe College, as Dana Piri crushed a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to secure a thrilling 3-1 victory for the Sharks.
Locked in a pitcher's duel for most of the game, the Sharks found themselves trailing 1-0 after Santa Fe's Madison Conway delivered an RBI double in the top of the sixth. Despite solid contact throughout the contest, Miami Dade was held scoreless through six innings by Santa Fe pitcher Belle Mancillas.
However, the Sharks refused to go quietly. In the bottom of the seventh, Gabriela Luz sparked the rally with a leadoff double, her second of the game. With the pressure mounting, Piri stepped to the plate and launched a towering shot over the left-field fence, sending the Sharks dugout into pandemonium and sealing the walk-off win.
Pitcher Aimi Tohara was stellar on the mound, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on six hits and striking out one. Her dominant performance kept the Sharks in the game until the offense came through in the final inning.
With the victory, Miami Dade remains undefeated at 12-0 (2-0 in conference play), while Santa Fe drops to 10-7 (0-2). The Sharks will look to keep their momentum rolling as they continue their impressive start to the season.
