Miami Dade Dominates Chipola with 8-2 Victory
Miami Dade secured a commanding 8-2 win over Chipola College, fueled by a stellar offensive performance from shortstop Caroline Mito and a strong outing from pitcher Carina Amarilla.
Mito was the catalyst for the Sharks, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs, a double, and a triple. She sparked the scoring early, crossing home plate on a wild pitch in the first inning. After Chipola briefly tied the game in the third on a sacrifice fly from Diana Arcay, Miami Dade responded with a three-run fourth inning, highlighted by Mito's two-run single that brought home Carmela Smith and Ebba Sofia Eriksson.
The Sharks continued to pile on runs, adding one in the fifth and two more in the sixth, including an RBI triple from Mito. She capped off her impressive night in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Emma Van Arman, putting the game out of reach.
On the mound, Amarilla was dominant, tossing a complete game while allowing just two earned runs on eight hits. She struck out seven and issued only two walks.
Chipola's offense struggled to capitalize on opportunities, leaving eight runners stranded. Irene Rabasco led the way for the Indians, going 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the seventh, but it was too little, too late.
