Sharks win last game of the season against Santa Fe

The Miami Dade Sharks softball team came out on top against the Santa Fe Saints 8-6 on Saturday. The Sharks finish the season with a 20-31 record.

The Sharks got on the board in the first inning after Alexis Ortega hit a solo home run to center field. Santa Fe College then took the lead in the bottom of the first after Madi Conway doubled, driving in two runs, to give the Saints the lead, 2-1.

Miami Dade took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the third thanks to homeruns by Dana Ximena Piri Gallegos and Ortega.

In the top of the fourth, shortstop Jaiden Tretter smacked her fourth homerun of the year to dead center bringing in two. Gessenia Hernandez would score on the play.

The Saints would tie the ballgame at 6 apiece in the bottom of the seventh but Miami Dade was able to go back up in the top of the eighth inning after Tretter hit another homerun to make the score 8-6.

Carina Amarilla earned the win for the Sharks as she went eight innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out six and walking two.
