Big day for Ortega leads Sharks past the Raiders

The Miami Dade Sharks softball team defeated the Raiders 10-2 in Game 2 of their doubleheader on Saturday. The Sharks are now 17-24 on the year with the victory.

Miami Dade got on the board first in this ballgame after Alexis Ortega knocked in two runs with an RBI single. The Sharks then added to their early lead thanks to a double by Jaiden Tretter and another single from Ortega to make the score 4-1 in the bottom of the third.

The Raiders would add another run in the top of the fourth inning after Hailey Werning grounded into a fielder's choice, bringing in a run.

The Shark offense would get right back at it in the bottom of the fifth inning where they would score six runs and force a run rule.

The pitching was strong for the Sharks as well as Aimi Tohara would go five innings allowing six hits and two runs while striking out none.

Miami Dade will look to stay in the win column when they take on Eastern Florida in Melbourne. The games are scheduled for 3 PM and 5 PM.
