Sharks drop Game 1 to the Falcons

The Miami Dade Sharks softball team were defeated by the Daytona State College Falcons 8-5 on Thursday. Miami Dade drops to 14-24 on the year.

Daytona State struck first in this one after Gissel Morales hit a solo homerun to left field, making the score 1-0. The Falcons extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks Sky Ramos and Morgan Davis.

Miami Dade turned things around in the bottom of the fourth when Jaiden Tretter drove in three runs with a double and Ty Marie Cervantes singled, also driving in a run.

The Falcons jumped back into the lead after a single by Davis scored one and a base knock by Kiera Mainolfi brought in two. They were able to ad an insurance run in the eighth after Davis once again hurt the Sharks, this time with a longball.

In the circle for the Sharks today was Carina Amarilla who tossed four and a third innings, giving up six earned runs on seven hits while striking out three.

The Sharks will look to get back to their winning ways when they take on Daytona State College in Game 2.
