Sharks fall to the Manatees 5-1

The Miami Dade Sharks softball team fell to State College of Florida 5-1 in game 1 of their doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. Miami Dade moves to 7-9 with the loss while the Manatees go up to 9-6.

The Manatees got on the board in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Alissa Kessler that drove in Haley Rosenbaum. They would add onto the lead in the second inning after an error by infielder Kiana Kadena allowed two more runs to score.

In the top of the third, Miami Dade would score their only run in the game after Dana Ximena Piri Gallegos drew a bases loaded walk scoring Maya Wall.

Alissa Kessler would answer in the bottom half with a solo shot to left field to increase the padding for the Manatees.

Aimi Tohara got the start in the circle today for the Sharks going six innings, allowing five runs, three of them earned while striking out five.

The Sharks will look to bounce back as they take on the Manatees once again in the second game of their doubleheader.
