Miami Dade falls in Game 1 to St. Pete

The Miami Dade Sharks softball team fell at the hands of St. Petersburg College 4-1, Thursday evening. The Sharks fall to 4-7 with the loss.

Miami Dade College opened the scoring in the third after St. Pete traded 2 outs for a run.

St. Petersburg State College took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after an error for the Sharks. Then a sac fly by Dani Dibendetto hit a sacrifice fly.

Vargas earned the win for St. Petersburg State College. She surrendered four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two.

Aimi Tohara took the loss for Miami Dade College. The right-hander went six innings, surrendering four runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out five and walking none.

The Sharks look to bounce back in game 2 against the Titans.
