Miami Dade sweeps doubleheader against the Eagles

The Miami Dade Sharks softball team beat Polk State 6-3 in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. The Sharks move up to 4-6 on the year. 

Miami Dade got on the board in the first inning thanks to an RBI single from Dana Ximena Piri Gallegos. Giada Acanfora would drive in another run with a sac fly and Gessenia Hernandez would drive in another to make the score 3-0 going into the second inning.

The Eagles would answer back with a run of their own after a sac fly by Veronica Hernandez. Rylee Christmas would provide a gift for the Eagles with a 2 RBI single to tie up the game 3-3 in the top of the fourth. 

Miami Dade's Gabriela Luz would put the Sharks ahead thanks to an RBI single. Maria Valls Raya would hit a sac fly to bring in another run. Ty Marie Cervantes would drive in Valls Raya to make the score 6-3 in this one. 

Lais Ihy would earn the victory for the Sharks in this tossing 3.1 innings of relief allowing zero hits and zero runs. Beatrice Nannetti would start things off in the circle today allowing five hits and two earned runs over three and two- thirds innings of work. 

The Sharks head up to St. Petersburg College for a doubleheader on Thursday. The games are scheduled for 2 and 4 PM.
