The Sharks score 15 runs in home opener against Polk

The Miami Dade Sharks softball team defeated the Polk State Eagles 15-0 in game 1 of their doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Sharks improve to 3-6 on the year.

Miami Dade won thanks in part to a 13 run second inning and strong pitching from Peruvian Aimi Tohara. The right hander would pitch five strong innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out six and walking three batters.

Ty Marie Cervantes and Alexis Ortega each collected two hits for Miami Dade. Ortega would go 2-3 while driving in 3 RBI's. The Sharks offense would be very patient at the plate, drawing a total of 8 walks with Jaiden Tretter and Gabriela Nunes Trinoski both drawing two.

The Sharks will look to stay hot as they take on Polk State in the second leg of a doubleheader at 4 PM.
