Miami Dade faced a tall task going into the matchup against the #2 ranked Northwest Florida State squad but came out unsuccesful. A strong 1st and 2nd inning by the Raiders was enough to push them past the Sharks. Miami Dade drops to 1-2 with the loss.

Northwest Florida's strong offense was aided in this one by Mckayla Ferguson and Sophia Jones who each helped in bringing a pair of runs in for the Raiders. 

In the bottom of the second, the Raiders scored five runs on three hits. An RBI single by Gyvan Hammons and an RBI triple by Ferguson were just some of the highlights to their strong inning.

Lais Ihy got the start for the Sharks in this one going 3 innings, allowing 8 runs (7 earned) on 5 hits while striking out 2. 

Miami Dade will take on Wallace State in the second leg of a doubleheader as they look to right the ship. The game is scheduled for 11:30 AM CST later today.
