Sharks lose close game to Indian River State

The Miami Dade Sharks men's basketball team lost a close conference matchup to Indian River State College. The Pioneers move to 18-5 while Miami Dade drops to 13-11.

Miami Dade were led in this one by John Latimer who had 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Jamaal Morris followed him up with 15 points of his own, shooting 6-12 from the field.

No team was able to take a lead of more than seven points during the game. It was Indian River who would lead 40–37 going into the half. Esteban Lluberes would make a three-pointer with two minutes remaining to give the Sharks a 69-67 lead. The Pioneers then answered right away with a three pointer from Kyle Brown. Mykol Sanchez made the game-winning three-pointer with just 12 seconds remaining after a crucial defensive stop to put them ahead by four points. It was too little too late for the Sharks as Indian River would pull away with the 73-71 victory. 

The Sharks will go up to Daytona on Tuesday evening where they'll take on the #3 ranked team in the country. The game is slated for Tuesday, February 13 at 7:00 PM.
