Miami Dade Clinches Playoff Spot with Dominant 11–2 Win Over Eastern Florida
The Sharks punched their ticket to the playoffs in emphatic fashion, rolling past Eastern Florida State College 11–2 behind a huge night from Talan Beckford and a dominant pitching performance by Luke Helms.
After falling behind early, Miami Dade responded quickly with two runs in the second inning, courtesy of a two-RBI single by Jendy Gonzalez. Beckford took over from there, driving in six runs on the night, including a bases-clearing three-run homer in the eighth that put the game well out of reach. He also added an RBI single and a double, capping a monster performance at the plate.
Cian Copeland also had a strong game, reaching base four times with two hits and two walks, scoring three runs. Michael Petite contributed with an RBI and a hit-by-pitch that brought in another run during Miami Dade's late surge.
On the mound, Luke Helms was lights-out, striking out 10 over six innings of one-run ball to pick up the win. Jeffred Fermin and Andy Mesa combined to close out the final two innings without any drama.
Miami Dade racked up 11 hits, while the defense turned a key double play and played error-free baseball. The Sharks' balanced attack and sharp pitching proved too much for Eastern Florida, who left eight runners on base and couldn't keep pace offensively.
With the victory, Miami Dade secures a spot in the postseason and heads into the playoffs riding strong momentum.
