Sharks Dominate Daytona to Complete Series Sweep, 12–1
The Sharks left no doubt in the series finale, steamrolling Daytona State College 12–1 in five innings to complete the sweep in commanding fashion.
The Sharks' offense exploded early and never let up, scoring in every inning behind an 11-hit, 12-run performance. Leading the charge was Jovan Swasey, who went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs, a walk, and three runs scored. Michael Petite stayed hot as well, adding two hits, two RBIs, and a pair of runs.
After taking a quick 2–0 lead in the first on RBI hits from Petite and Talan Beckford, the Sharks padded their advantage with a three-run second inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Swasey. In the third, Denixon Suarez blasted a two-run homer, and in the fourth, Willy Mendez joined the long-ball party with a two-run shot of his own.
Suarez and Mendez each finished with two RBIs, while Santiago Carriles-Alvarado and Jendy Gonzalez both added doubles and combined for four runs scored. Nine of the 10 Shark batters reached base.
On the mound, Jordan Vargas was in control from the start, tossing a complete-game five-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks. His only blemish came in the bottom of the first when Derek Lopez launched a solo home run for Daytona's lone run.
With this dominant win, Miami Dade opens the season with a powerful sweep, outscoring Daytona 46–13 over the three-game set and showcasing an explosive lineup and steady pitching that sets the tone for what's ahead.
