The Miami Dade Sharks Baseball team kicked their season off with a win against Northwest Florida State College. Miami Dade moves to 1-0 while the Raiders drop to 1-1.

Juan Miguel Fernandez took the bump in this one and threw 3.2 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs and getting 2 punchouts. Julian Carrasquilla, Luis Rodriguez, Brandon Vasquez and Enrique Sierra would come in relief and throw a combined 6.1 innings just allowing 1 run. Enrique Sierra would earn the victory in this one.

Although the Sharks lineup struck out 17 times in this one, they were able to wake up when they needed the most scoring 4 of their 6 runs in the last 4 innings of this game. Outfielder Maikol Perez led the Sharks offense in this one going 2 for 5 and scoring 2 runs.

The Sharks look to stay the winning course to start the season as they take on Indian River State College on Saturday. The game is slated for Saturday January 27.
