Miami Dade College softball has announced the addition of Jianna Simonet to its coaching staff as an Assistant Coach for the 2025 season.

Simonet joins the Sharks after completing a four-year collegiate career at Florida International University (FIU), where she was a key contributor as a middle infielder and utility player, primarily starting at second base. Known for her speed and ability as a left-handed slapper, she earned Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition all four years.

A native of Orlando, Florida, Simonet graduated from FIU in Spring 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education – Sports and Fitness and is currently pursuing her master’s in Kinesiology. She is also a certified personal trainer and strength coach through the National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF). Her hands-on experience includes internships at Pinecrest Performance and with FIU’s Strength and Conditioning Department.

Before her collegiate career, Simonet played at Lake Nona High School, where she helped lead her team to district championships in 2018 and 2021 and a runner-up finish in 2019. She was named to the All-Metro East Team in both 2020 and 2021, earned Designated Player of the Year honors, and received the 2021 Coaches Award. At the plate, she posted standout offensive numbers, including a .444 batting average in 2019, .679 in 2020, and 25 RBIs in 2021.
