Our Lady Sharks, who last year brought home both the state and national championship titles for a second year in a row, and remained undefeated in the process, are headed to the state championship in November after defeating Santa Fe College Saturday night.
The Lady Sharks won both games this weekend against Daytona State college and Santa Fe College. Heading all the way to five sets vs Daytona (25-23, 25-8, 25-27, 21-25, and 15-7) where Tiziana Baumrukova aided with 45 assists, Maria Palacios had 10 kills, two blocks solos and three blocks assists and lastly Samaret Caraballo had 37 digs.
Then your lady Sharks after a strenuous game took on Santa Fe College in three sets ( 25-15, 25-20, 25-23). Where Tiziana Baumrukova had 39 assists, Valeria Alegrias had 19 kills and nine digs while also Samaret Caraballo contributed with 31 digs.
With these results remaining an Undefeated season at 24-0, have successfully crowned your Lady Sharks Volleyball team FCSAA Southern Conference champions and will Then, on November 2, travel to Bradenton for the first match of the FCSAA State Volleyball Tournament against Central Florida.
Last year's women's volleyball national championship win marked the 35th NJCAA national title for MDC, and the 15th in women's sports.
