Lady Sharks Volleyball are Back to Back National Champs

The Miami Dade College Lady Sharks Volleyball team defeated the College of Southern Idaho in the 2017 NJCAA Volleyball National Championship. The Lady Sharks shut out CSI 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, and 25-18). Miami Dade are back to back champions. The Lady Sharks won states and nationals two years in a row (2016 and 2017). This is the Lady Sharks tenth national title.

During the tournament, the Lady Sharks defeated each opponent they faced. MDC played against Polk State College, New Mexico Military Institute, and College of Southern Idaho. 

Players Camila Hernandez, Sun Wenting, and Massiel Matos were named to the 2017 NJCAA Volleyball National All-Tournament team. Matos was once again named NJCAA Volleyball National Tournament Most Valuable Player. Matos received this award last year. Head Coach Origenes "Kiko" Benoit was named the. Coach of the Tournament. MDC finishes their season undefeated with a 34-0 overall record and 6-0 conference record. 

With the volleyball team's win, Miami Dade College now has 33 national titles. Eleven of the titles are women sports.
