Sharks drop game against Titans
In a tightly contested game, the Miami Dade Sharks faced off against Eastern Florida State College, ultimately falling 56-49 in a matchup defined by defensive intensity and struggles on offense.
The game began with Miami Dade seizing an early lead in the first quarter, outscoring Eastern Florida 16-15. However, Eastern Florida responded with an 18-13 run in the second quarter, taking a slim 33-29 lead into halftime. Both teams battled fiercely in the second half, with Miami Dade regaining momentum in the third quarter to cut into the deficit, but a seven-point fourth-quarter effort sealed their fate as Eastern Florida pulled away for the victory.
For Miami Dade, forward Cleaira Peterson led the way with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, including seven offensive boards. Despite her aggressive play inside, Peterson's 4-of-10 performance from the free-throw line highlighted the Sharks' overall struggles from the stripe, where they shot just 55%. Guard Shameir Quimby also contributed significantly, scoring 16 points and pulling down nine rebounds while attacking the basket consistently throughout the game.
Despite the loss, Miami Dade showcased their resilience, particularly on the glass, where they out-rebounded Eastern Florida 51-44, including an impressive 23 offensive boards.
The Sharks look to get back in the win column on Monday when they take on Florida Southwestern State College.
