Nia Sapp Signs with the Hornets

Miami, FL- After her lone season with the Sharks, Sophomore Nia Sapp will finish her collegiate career with the Alabama State University Hornets. The 6' forward signed her national letter of intent with ASU on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

Sapp shared and expressed how she felt on her signing with the Hornets on social media: "After a very long and exciting recruiting process, I have final decided to end my recruitment and attend Alabama State University … . I would like to thank God because none of this would be possible without him! I would also like to thank my amazing coaches, my friends, and of course my beautiful family for supporting me throughout this process and my basketball career. …"

While at MDC, Sapp averaged 3.2 ppg, and 2.5 rpg. In addition, she shot 41 percent behind the three-point line and 55 percent behind the free-throw line. This will be the Atlanta native's second time playing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.  As a freshman, Sapp attended and played for the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
