Sharks shine on Sophomore Day

The Miami Dade Sharks baseball team defeated United International College 4-1 on Tuesday night, which also happened to be Sophomore Day for the Sharks. Miami Dade moves to 27-22 on the year.

The Sharks were the first team to get on the board in this ballgame as D'Angelo Ortiz doubled in the first inning, giving the Sharks a 1-0 lead.

Miami Dade then added to their early lead thanks to a single from Maikol Perez which drove in two and a sac fly from Ortiz that brought in another.

The Eagle Rays would scratch a run in the fourth inning after a sacrifice fly from Zinny Kemahu but it wouldn't be enough as the Sharks pitching stayed strong throughout the matchup.

Robert Lastra would be credited with the win as he struck out four batters over three innings.

The Sharks will look to finish out their schedule this weekend when they take on Eastern Florida State College on the road this Wednesday and then come back for a doubleheader this Saturday.
