Sharks defeat State College of Florida 15-12 in a classic

The Miami Dade Sharks baseball team defeated the State College of Florida Manatees 15-12 in an epic comeback Monday night. The Sharks move to 23-19 with the victory. 

Despite trailing 10-1 in the first, Miami Dade came back to win after some consistent offense and the pitching staff holding it down for the last 8 innings. 

The comeback started in the second inning when the Sharks scored five runs. Thomas White cranked his first homerun of the year with a shot to left field and then Maikol Perez drove in three with a double. D'Angelo Ortiz brought in the last run for the Sharks in the inning.

In the fourth inning, Carlos Jacome tied the ballgame up at 10 with a homer to left field. Two innings later, Allan Gil- Fernandez would draw a walk to give the Manatees a 11-10 lead. Wilder Puertas would give the Sharks the lead with a two run single in the top of the eighth inning.

Three more runs would cross the plate for the Sharks in the ninth inning to extend the lead to 15-11 after a solo shot by Michael Petite, a bases loaded walk by Jacome and a sac fly from White.

Alex Pazos would earn the win for the Sharks in this classic after tossing 3.1 innings in relief. He would strike out five and walk two in his outing. Julian Carrasquilla, Luis Rodriguez and Horacio Cruz would appear in relief tossing a combined 5 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 11.

The Sharks will take two days off before facing Indian River State College at home on Thursday. The game is scheduled for 6 PM.
