Miami Dade defeats the Hawks 6-5

The Miami Dade Sharks baseball team defeated the Hillsborough Community College Hawks 6-5 on Thursday afternoon. The Sharks are 19-17 on the year with the victory.

The Sharks got off to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after a lineout by Michael Petite drove in a run. The Hawks were able to tie it up in the bottom half of the first after a wild pitch by Dade.

The Sharks were able to retain the lead after Maikol Perez singled and HCC committed an error, making the score 3-1.

The Sharks offense stayed strong throughout as Perez hit a solo shot to center field and D'Angelo Ortiz drove in a run.

Left Hander Brandon Vazquez secured the win for Miami Dade tossing one and two-thirds innings while striking out one. Enrique Sierra drew the start for the Sharks going four and a third allowing four hits and three runs while striking out five Hawks.

Miami Dade will look to secure the series sweep as they take on the Hawks on Saturday March 30th. The games are scheduled for 2 PM and 5 PM.
