Miami Dade takes down State College of Florida 5-1

The Miami Dade Sharks baseball team took down State College of Florida 5-1, Thursday afternoon. Miami Dade is now 1 win shy of .500 at 13-14. 

State College of Florida opened the scoring after Allan Gil- Fernandez singled to left field driving in a run. 

The Sharks jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after D'Angelo Ortiz and Santiago Carriles both singled, each driving in a run. 

The game would be a stalemate from here on out until catcher Geremy Garcia hit his 5th homerun of the year to give the Sharks a 5-2 lead late in the ballgame.

Juan Miguel Fernandez earned the win for Miami Dade after tossing 6 and a third innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 6 and walking 3. 

The Sharks will try to collect the series win when they take on the Manatees again on Saturday. The doubleheader is scheduled for 1 PM and 4 PM.
