Santiago Carriles walks it off for the Sharks

The Miami Dade Sharks pulled the game away from the Eagles in walkoff fashion thanks to an RBI single by Santiago Carriles. The Sharks move to 11-10 with the victory.

The pitching was strong on both sides as Miami Dade struck out 13 while Polk sat down 10 of their own. Juan Miguel Fernandez started things off for the Sharks and tossed 7 strong innings only allowing 5 hits and striking out 8. Butler got the start for the Eagles throwing 7 innings of his own, allowing one run and striking out 6.

D'Angelo Ortiz got the Sharks on the board in the fourth inning, shooting the ball up the middle to give Miami Dade a 1-0 lead. Polk State then answered back in the top of the eighth inning with a two run shot from Kenealy to put them ahead.

With their backs agains the wall, Carlos Jacome would single to right field to tie the game for the Sharks which would push the game to extra innings. 

In the bottom of the 11th inning, Geremy Garcia lined a ball to left field to get on base. Santiago Carriles would be the hero tonight as he would send a ball to right field to bring in Garcia and give the Sharks the walkoff victory.

The Sharks will look travel up to Winter Haven to take on Polk in Games 2 and 3 of their series. The games are slated for March 2nd at 2:00 and 5:00 PM.
