Sharks fall to the Patriots 9-4

The Miami Dade Sharks baseball team lost their first conference matchup of the year against College of Central Florida. The Sharks drop to 7-7 with the loss while the Patriots move to 8-3. 

Central Florida got the scoring started in this one after Cole Bullen would have an RBI groundout. Lead off hitter Cooper Jones would tag Juan Miguel Fernandez for a 2 run bomb the opposite way to make the score 3-0. 

Miami Dade's bats would heat up in the bottom of the third. Left fielder Dean Guzman would have an RBI knock while catcher Santiago Carriles would drive in two.

The Patriots would bounce back with another 2 run shot to put them back up 5-4. They would go on to add an insurance run in the 7th and in the 9th inning. 

Juan Miguel Fernandez would toe the slab in this matchup going four and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs (five earned), allowing six hits and striking out six. Horacio Cruz would come in for four and a third innings of relief, also allowing six hits but just two earned runs. 

The Sharks travel up to Ocala to finish out their three game series against the Patriots. The games are scheduled for February 16th at 2:00 PM and Saturday, February 17th at 10:00 AM.
