Miami Dade College Baseball Players Drafted by MLB

Six current MDC Baseball players were selected in the 2018 MLB Draft this week. SS/2B Brian Rey- 13th Round by the Cincinnati Reds, also signed at letter of intent with North Carolina State University, OF Adrian Ramos- 19th Round by the Toranto Blue Jays, signed letter of intent with Southeastern University, RHP Yusniel Padron- 22nd Round by the Boston Red Sox, RHP Nelson Alvarez- 23rd Round by the San Diego Padres, signed letter of intent with the University of South Florida, OF Gabriel Rodriguez-31st Round Atlanta Braves, SS Abdiel Layer-Lugo- 40th Round San Francisco Giants.

Three former MDC Sharks were also drafted: Chis Bec, Maine University, drafted in the 5th Round by the Toranto Blue Jays, Nelson Mompierre, St. Thomas University, drafted in the 29th Round by the New York Mets, and Eddy Demurias, University of South Carolina, drafted inthe 27th Round by the Cincinnati Reds. 

Aside from beining drafted, the following Sharks signed letters of intent to continue their education and playing careers at four year colleges/universities:

Jason Grana- St. Thomas University

Daniel Mondejar- St. Thomas University

Jordan Santos- University of South Florida

Ronny Penalo- Pointpark University

Jose Rojas- Pointpark University
