Sharks Postseason Ends

Miami, FL-On the second day of the FCSAA State Baseball Tournament (Saturday, May 6, 2017) MDC Baseball faced State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota and shut SCF out 7-0.

After Manatee, MDC faced Chipola College but lost to the Indians 0-10 after they were run-ruled in the fifth inning of the game. Miami Dade only gave up seven hits to Chipola the entire game.

With a loss against Chipola, the Sharks were sent to the losing bracket where they faced SCF again. Once again, the Sharks cruised past SCF winning 7-1. Pitcher and freshman Joshua Lopez started and won the game for the Sharks. Facing 34 players at bat, Lopez only allowed seven hits and Miami Dade's infield & outfield only made one error.

Although the Sharks defeated Manatee again, MDC was still in the losing bracket. They had to win three more games to play in the FCSAA State Baseball Championship.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, the Sharks played against Southern Conference opponent Palm Beach State College. Unfortunately, the Sharks fell to PBSC 1-6. Pitcher Eddy Demurias started for MDC but after 6 innings, six runs, eight hits, and five errors freshman Jason Grana replaced Demurias. The loss against Palm Beach ended the Sharks postseason run. MDC finished their season 34-17 overall, 20-8 in conference play, and 2-2 in the postseason.
